Android Auto, Chromecast and other devices with a VPN

If Android Auto shows error 21 or your TV doesn't show up while PryVPN is connected, one setting usually fixes it.

Android Auto

Wireless Android Auto can fail with error 21, or not start, while a VPN is connected. PryVPN doesn't need to protect the link to your car.

  1. Open Settings › Split tunneling and turn on Use split tunneling.
  2. Choose Exclude selected and select Android Auto.
  3. Connect to the car again.

Android Auto then connects directly, and everything else stays protected.

Chromecast, TVs and printers

Turn on Allow local network so your phone can reach devices at home. Casting and printing then work with PryVPN connected.

Cameras and drones with their own Wi-Fi

Some cameras, drones and smart plugs create a Wi-Fi network without internet for setup. If their app can't find the device, turn on Allow local network, or disconnect PryVPN during setup.
