Public Wi-Fi in cafés, hotels and airports

Public Wi-Fi is where a VPN helps most, and also where VPNs get blocked most often. Here's how to get connected and stay protected.

On public Wi-Fi, whoever runs the network could otherwise see which sites you visit. With PryVPN they only see an encrypted connection.

If PryVPN doesn't connect on a public network:

  1. Make sure you've signed in to the network: Wi-Fi login pages.
  2. Keep the protocol on Auto. If UDP is blocked, PryVPN switches to Stealth after about 12 seconds and remembers it for that network.
  3. If the handshake times out, tap Retry over TCP 443 (Stealth), or choose Stealth in Settings › Protocol.
  4. Keep Allow local network off on public Wi-Fi: see Allow local network.

Protect it automatically

In Settings › Auto-connect and Wi-Fi, turn on On untrusted Wi-Fi. PryVPN then connects on every Wi-Fi network you haven't marked as trusted, such as your home network.
