Change it in Settings › Protocol. If you change it while connected, PryVPN reconnects straight away.
- Auto (recommended): WireGuard over UDP, the fastest option. If the server doesn't answer within 12 seconds, PryVPN switches to Stealth and remembers that for this network for a few hours.
- WireGuard · UDP: always UDP. Fastest, but some public, office and school networks block it.
- Stealth · TLS 443: WireGuard inside a TLS 1.3 connection on port 443, the port websites use, with our server's certificate pinned. Slower, but it gets through most networks that block VPNs. Needs Android 10 or later.
When to choose Stealth
- Connecting keeps failing because the handshake timed out. You can also tap Retry over TCP 443 (Stealth) on that message.
- A hotel, office, school or campus network lets you browse, but not use VPNs.
- Auto works, but takes a long time on a network you use often.
Stealth looks like ordinary encrypted web traffic to most filters, but it isn't invisible: networks with advanced inspection can still detect or block it. While Stealth is on, the PryVPN app itself stays outside the tunnel so its TLS connection can reach the server. All your other apps stay protected.
