When you connect, PryVPN also prepares a backup server, in another city when possible. Your phone keeps both, so the backup works even if our central service can't be reached.
While you're connected, PryVPN checks every 20 seconds that traffic is coming back. As long as data flows, this costs nothing.
- The server stops responding and your network works: PryVPN moves to the backup in less than 10 seconds and tells you once, for example “Switched to Montreal: Frankfurt stopped responding.” The VPN stays active during the switch, so your apps don't fall back to your normal connection.
- Your network is down: PryVPN doesn't blame the server and doesn't switch. It shows “Waiting for your network…” and checks the tunnel again when the network is back.
- Both servers are down: your traffic stays blocked while PryVPN retries, waiting a little longer each time. Tap Disconnect to use the internet without VPN. If Android's Block connections without VPN is on, the internet stays off until a server answers or you turn that setting off.
If the server you chose doesn't answer when you connect, PryVPN goes straight to the backup.
