What it protects
- Your network can't see your sites. Whoever runs the Wi-Fi, your internet provider or your mobile operator only see an encrypted connection to a PryVPN server.
- Websites see our server's IP, not your real one.
- Tracker and malware domains are blocked by our DNS, in every app, using known lists, and ads too if you turn that on. See DNS filters.
- Public Wi-Fi gets safer: other people on the network can't read or change your traffic.
What it doesn't change
- Sites and apps you sign into still know it's you.
- Cookies and browser fingerprinting can still recognize your browser. A VPN doesn't change that.
- Malware already on your phone keeps working. Blocking malware domains stops your phone from reaching known bad sites, but it isn't an antivirus: it doesn't scan or remove anything.
- Phishing: blocking known phishing domains helps, but new ones appear every day. Check the address before you type a password.
- Apps you exclude with split tunneling use your normal connection.
- Devices on your hotspot don't go through PryVPN. See Hotspot.
- Streaming catalogs: many streaming services block VPN servers, and we don't promise to get around that.
No VPN can honestly promise total anonymity, and we don't. What we do promise is that we don't log what you do: Privacy and no-logs.
